The Teach Me Islam (TMI) app is the world’s first Islamic education delivery via an app and on-line; for those requiring tuition, it connects accredited, DBS-checked, degree-level qualified Islamic tutors with parents who require home schooling for their children either on or offline. It is a market first and a highly scalable business model which sees tuition, security, progress, reward and certification achieved at their own pace and with a friendly and familiar face of someone who relates to their social position and upbringing.

Its entry level offering sees small groups working together in
online classes as they study the TMI course curriculum. Using
the same tutors and course materials, children benefit from a
high level of tutor attention at a lower price than the one-to-one offering.

The curriculum is simple, comprehensive, consistent and relevant, especially to young British Muslims who are being brought up in a modern, fast-changing world and who are now ready to understand Islam in a loving and forward-thinking 21st Century context.

Muslim population:

According to research published in 2017 by a US research centre - Pew, the UK Muslim population was 4.1m following significant migration in preceding years (the 2011 UK census counted 2.71m) and was forecast to triple to some 13m by 2030.
Some 8.1% of all school age children in the UK are Muslim. Given there are 8.67m children of school age, this would suggest there are at least 700,000 Muslim children in the UK, all of whom will likely require some extra curricular tuition during their childhood and possibly beyond. This need increased dramatically over the course of the pandemic and now online learning and home education is being routinely adopted into school, college and university life.
Almost 26m Muslims were living in Europe in 20165 and as at 2010 some 1.6bn in the world. The community, now more widespread than ever and established in most countries across the world, nonetheless remain hugely connected across the globe through extended families and friends.

Online Education:
A Valuates Report in August 2020 predicts this will drive a 10.85% increase in online education worldwide – up on a market size already forecast to reach $325 billion by 2025 (Research & Markets) which was released in 2017, some three years ahead of a viral pandemic that changed the setting for education forever.

Tutor market:

There is also a huge market for tutors, who are more likely to be female and very possibly mothers themselves. According to Census research and analysis within the 25-49 age group only 57% of Muslim women were in employment compared with 80% of women overall. There could be a number of reasons for this – good and bad, from cultural influence and expectation to racism
and prejudice in the workplace, but what is clear is that the pool of active and potential tutors is significant, growing and set to benefit from the launch of TMI.

The TMI team seek to raise an initial £100,000 and use as follows:

OPERATIONAL PLAN AND TIMESCALES
With the community of teachers and mothers already in place and ready to spread the word directly through their respective offline communities, mosques and groups, as well as online through social media, in addition to a host of already happy customers and their parents, TMI is ready to make its presence known.

The board has taken a very modest forecast position of delivering just 184,587 student sign ups by 2025 of the global addressable market of 273mn students. Scale is potentially vast.
With an assumed addressable market of some 700,000 students in the UK, TMI only needs a fraction of this market to achieve considerably successful results.

As with any business intending ultimately to exit, there are obvious candidates for acquisition, such as education providers or organisations with specific Muslim interest.

With the recent success of TMI online courses and with all 12 classes fully subscribed, funding will ensure TMI can keep at pace and confidently exceed 2025 sales turnover of £61m.
The business moves into positive EBIT after 2022, and is projected to have an EBIT of £21.3m establishing a 50% gross profit and 28% net margin by 2025.
